    February 1, 2017
AURORA, Colo. – Accelerate Colorado, a partnership between business and local governments that works with the U.S. Congress and key federal leadership on issues critical to Colorado’s economic development, top industries, and business community, recently announced Kevin Doran as its Executive Director.
Doran brings significant experience with him into this new position. Prior to joining Accelerate Colorado, he managed Adams County’s federal and state legislative agendas, activities, and lobbying strategies.  He was Deputy Chief of Staff & Legislative Director for Congressman Lynn Westmoreland before this, managing the Congressman’s Washington, D.C. office and entire legislative agenda and interfacing with both internal and external entities.  At Holland & Knight LLP, Doran represented clients including local governments, transportation authorities, trade associations, non-profit and for-profit organizations, and private and public sector entities before the U.S. Congress and Administration.    He also worked in the U.S. Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Subcommittee on Oversight of Government Management and in the office of U.S. Senator George Voinovich.
“Kevin has vast knowledge and political connections that, in addition to the many other assets he brings to the table, will be valuable in advancing Accelerate Colorado’s policy leadership in the state,” stated Wendy Mitchell, co-chair of Accelerate Colorado.  “It is more important than ever for Colorado to have a voice in our nation’s politics, and we are excited for him to drive this effort forward.”
Doran’s arrival comes ahead of Accelerate Colorado’s annual business mission in Washington D.C., which is recognized as one of the most effective programs of its kind.  The 2017 trip is scheduled for Monday, June 12 through Wednesday, June 14.  During the three-day event, the organization provides 100 statewide business executives, leaders, and elected officials a one-of-a-kind opportunity to strongly advocate for Colorado’s economic development and policy interests while engaging directly with Colorado’s Congressional delegation and top federal leaders.  To learn more or to register for the trip, go to www.regonline.com/ACDC2017.
Doran has a MA in Government from Johns Hopkins University and a BA in International Studies and Spanish from the University of Dayton, with a minor in Political Science.  He currently volunteers with The Colorado Trail Foundation and Friends of the Arapahoe Library District.
