    November 16, 2018
AURORA, CO – The Aurora Economic Development Council (AEDC) announced today that Steve Wozniak, the Silicon Valley icon and philanthropist who designed Apple’s first line of products, will be the keynote speaker at the company’s annual event, A-List: Dawn of a New Aurora. It will be one of the first local events at the Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center, a project that AEDC was heavily involved with. A-List will be held Thursday, January 17, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 pm MST, shortly after the Gaylord Rockies opens its doors.

This year’s presenting sponsor is Adams County Government, the jurisdiction where the Gaylord Rockies is located, and the event is being hosted by RIDA Development Corporation. The Houston, Texas-headquartered real estate company is the developer on the massive hotel and conference center.

A-List is one of the most anticipated and largest business events in the Metro area that brings together more than 1,000 Colorado business, civic and political leaders to celebrate the economic successes in the City of Aurora, Adams and Arapahoe Counties. This year’s event will focus on the catalysts and collective momentum building in the area, pushing Aurora onto the global stage.

“We are thrilled to be hosting this event in such a meaningful venue for our organization this year and with such a distinguished guest speaker. Aurora has seen so much positive change, and we can’t wait to show off all the wins we’ve been a part of. Mr. Wozniak is the perfect complement to our story as someone who has been on the front line of innovation and has believed in catalytic change,” said Wendy Mitchell, AEDC President and CEO. “Wozniak joins a prominent list of A-List speakers that includes President Bill Clinton, former CIA director Michael Hayden, pro tennis star Andre Agassi, and pro skier Lyndsey Vonn.”

In 1976, Wozniak and Steve Jobs founded Apple Computer Inc. with Wozniak’s Apple I personal computer. The following year, he introduced his Apple II personal computer, which was integral in launching the personal computer industry. For his achievements at Apple, Wozniak was awarded the National Medal of Technology by the President of the United States in 1985. In 2000, he was inducted into the Inventors Hall of Fame and was awarded the prestigious Heinz Award for Technology, The Economy and Employment for single-handedly designing the first personal computer and for then redirecting his lifelong passion for mathematics and electronics toward lighting the fires of excitement for education in grade school students and their teachers. Wozniak is a published author with the release of his New York Times best-selling autobiography, iWoz: From Computer Geek to Cult Icon by Norton Publishing. In October 2017, Steve co-founded Woz U.
