Transportation & Warehousing Growth
5-year CAGR 2014-2019
Driving commerce forward
Meeting customer demand requires quickly and efficiently moving goods, services, and information. The transportation and logistics cluster in Colorado does just that, supporting the state’s 6,000 or so manufacturing firms and significant e-commerce growth. Goods produced in our state are consumed in nearly every country in the world in part because we can efficiently get them there. Enabled by our superior multi-modal transportation infrastructure, central United States location with global access, and ample land for scalable operations, Aurora has become a powerhouse in this cluster. We welcomed the first two Amazon facilities in Colorado with the e-commerce boom. We’re next to one of the busiest international airports in the country and world. And we have millions of square feet of industrial product serving companies all along the global supply chain. Transportation and warehousing is Aurora’s 8th largest industry with an employment concentration much higher than the national average. And the growth we’ve seen in the last decade is only going to continue.
Aurora and Adams and Arapahoe Counties have experienced growth this cluster that far outpaces the Metro area, state, and nation over the last five years both in employment and number of companies.
Aurora’s strengths have enabled the significant growth in the transportation and logistics cluster like pieces of a puzzle. When put together, they create an environment primed for success.
